The online voting software used for the 2022 municipal election, Simply Voting, is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) and is compatible with screen-reading devices for those with vision loss.
If you are unable to vote online or need additional assistance, you may use one of the City’s barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible in-person assistance centres during the voting period. Accessible in-person voting services and options:
  • You may receive assistance from an accompanying interpreter or support person, or a member of city hall staff, who are sworn to secrecy. Service animals are permitted to accompany you to a voter assistance centre.
  • If you have a mobility impairment(s), you can receive transportation to a voter assistance centre via a fully accessible Quinte Access bus. To book a ride, call 613-392-9640
  • There will be designated accessible parking spaces at voter assistance centres
If you are experiencing homeless, or do not have a permanent address, you can still vote. Your qualifying address, which determines where you can vote, will be determined using the following rules:
  • The place where you most often sleep or eat during the five weeks leading up to determining your residence for the purpose of the election.
  • If you eat and sleep equally in two different places, the place where you sleep is your residence.
  • If you go to the same place multiple times during the same day to eat or sleep, all visits will be counted as one visit.
Your written statement about the places where you go to eat or sleep during a period of time will be regarded as the truth, unless there is evidence to the contrary.
